NOFO at the Pig Revisited

You all know I love Nofo! It's one of my favorite lunch spots! Nofo is an eclectic little cafe across the street from Hayes Barton Baptist Church inside the belt line at Five Points. They have a shop upstairs with nifty gifties. They have the best cards too!

The reason for the name....Named for its first home on North Fourth Street in Wilmington, the restaurant was named NOFO for short. The Wilmington location was relocated to Wrightsville Beach. In 2001, the owner opened a second location at the old Piggly Wiggly Store in Five Points. It still has a lot of the elements from the Piggly Wiggly. The bar is made from Piggly Wiggly food cans. There was a third NOFO in Charlotte on Elizabeth Ave near Presbyterian Hospital. I'm not sure if it's still opened.

Daryl and I ended up going for brunch on Easter. I had never had the brunch there. You'll never guess what Daryl ordered. Shrimp and Grits! Really? They were delicious shrimp and grits! I ordered an omelette with smoked salmon, goat cheese, and asparagus. It was such a fresh omelette! The ingredients were delicious together! The omelette came with a big heaping side of fruit and two small biscuits with butter and jelly.

Would I go back to Nofo for brunch? Hell yes! Would I make a reservation? ABSOLUTELY!

  1. May I mention that we took Joel's parents to NOFO for brunch on a Saturday morning, and Loved it! It was spectacular, along with great service! I would recommend for brunch 8)
